Shloka

शब्दजालं महारण्यं चित्तभ्रमणकारणम् ।अतः प्रयत्नाज्ज्ञातव्यं तत्त्वज्ञात्तत्त्वमात्मनः ॥ ६२ ॥

śabdajālaṃ mahāraṇyaṃ cittabhramaṇakāraṇam ;ataḥ prayatnājjñātavyaṃ tattvajñāttattvamātmanaḥ . 62 .

शब्द–जालंśabda–jālaṃ
Terminology
महा–अरण्यम्mahā–araṇyam
is a great jungle
चित्त–भ्रमण–कारणम्citta–bhramaṇa–kāraṇam
the cause for the mind to wander aimlessly
अतःataḥ
hence
प्रयत्नात्prayatnāt
with effort
आत्मनः तत्त्वम्ātmanaḥ tattvam
the reality of one’s Self
ज्ञातव्यम्jñātavyam
has to be known
तत्त्वज्ञात्tattvajñāt
from a competent guru

Translation

Terminology is a great jungle which causes the mind to wander aimlessly. Hence, the reality of the Self has to be known from a competent guru with due effort.
