Shloka

क्षीरं क्षीरे यथा क्षिप्तं तैलं तैले जलं जले ।संयुक्तमेकतां याति तथात्मन्यात्मविन्मुनिः ॥ ५६७ ॥

kṣīraṃ kṣīre yathā kṣiptaṃ tailaṃ taile jalaṃ jale ;saṃyuktamekatāṃ yāti tathātmanyātmavinmuniḥ . 567 .

घटे नष्टेghaṭe naṣṭe
when the pot breaks
व्योमvyoma
the (pot– space) space
भवतिbhavati
becomes (remains as)
व्योम एवvyoma eva
the space only
स्फुटम्sphuṭam
clearly
तथा एवtathā eva
likewise
ब्रह्म–वित्brahma–vit
the knower of Brahman
स्वयम्svayam

उपाधि–विलयेupādhi–vilaye
on the negation of the delimiting adjunct
ब्रह्म एवbrahma eva
(remains as) Brahman only

Translation

Milk, oil and water, when mixed respectively in milk, oil and water, get integrated and attain oneness. Similarly, the realised sage attains oneness with Atman.

Annotation

This is similar to the mantra (2–1–15) of the Kathopanishad.
