Shloka

जीवन्नेव सदा मुक्तः कृतार्थो ब्रह्मवित्तमः ।उपाधिनाशाद्ब्रह्मैव सद्ब्रह्माप्येति निर्द्वयम् ॥ ५५५ ॥

jīvanneva sadā muktaḥ kṛtārtho brahmavittamaḥ ;upādhināśādbrahmaiva sadbrahmāpyeti nirdvayam . 555 .

is undoubtedly Shiva (Brahman)

Translation

Always free while being alive, this eminent realised one has attained the highest human goal (liberation). Already being Brahman, he resolves in the non–dual Brahman after the cessation of the delimiting adjunct (the body).

Annotation

This is an echo of the mantra ब्रह्मैवसन् ब्रह्माप्येति य एवं वेद (Br.Up.4–4–6) which says that the jīva is Brahman Itself, but does not realise the truth. Realisation is like finding the garland on his own neck, about which he was not aware earlier.
