Shloka

भानुनेव जगत्सर्वं भासते यस्य तेजसा ।अनात्मकमसत्तुच्छं किं नु तस्यावभासकम् ॥ ५३४ ॥

bhānuneva jagatsarvaṃ bhāsate yasya tejasā ;anātmakamasattucchaṃ kiṃ nu tasyāvabhāsakam . 534 .

विज्ञानंvijñānaṃ

Translation

What indeed is the illuminer of that light (of Brahman) by which – as in the case of Sun – the whole universe which is unreal, non–self and dismissible, is illumined?

Annotation

The Katha Upanishad (2–2–15) says – ‘All this (universe) illumined by the light of Brahman’. It is not the mind or the senses which are the knower but the only knower is Brahman. It is because of Brahman’s light that the mind is appearing as the knower. Consciousness, the observer, cannot be observed.
