Translation

For a father, sons and others exist in order to redeem him from debt. However, there is none else apart from oneself to redeem a person from bondage (of existence).

Annotation

Redeeming one’s father from debt can be of two kinds – redeeming him from debt in a physical sense by repaying money to the creditors or to continue the line of dharma performed by one’s father. Redeeming oneself from bondage refers to redemption from false identification with the body–mind–complex and the cycle of transmigration. This is possible only by realisation of the nature of the Self (Jagadguru).
