Translation

The knower of Brahman, reveling in Atman and staying in the awareness of Brahman may stay as he likes – like going, standing, sitting, lying down or in any other manner.

Annotation

This verse is close to the lines from the Gita (5–8,9) which say that the realised person is always in the awareness of his self as Brahman, while his sense organs may be pursuing their sense objects. The notion of doership (kartṛtva) and the notion of being the enjoyer (bhoktṛtva) do not exist in him. However, like Sri Shankaracharya himself, the realised person may be moving around teaching his disciples.
