Shloka

असत्पदार्थानुभवे न किञ्चि -
न्न ह्यस्ति तृप्तिर्न च दुःखहानिः ।
तदद्वयानन्दरसानुभूत्या
तृप्तः सुखं तिष्ठ सदात्मनिष्ठया ॥ ५२४ ॥

asatpadārthānubhave na kiñci -
nna hyasti tṛptirna ca duḥkhahāniḥ ;
tadadvayānandarasānubhūtyā
tṛptaḥ sukhaṃ tiṣṭha sadātmaniṣṭhayā . 524 .

Anvaya

कः विद्वान्kaḥ vidvān
Which wise person
उत्सृज्यutsṛjya
having rejected
तांtāṃ
that
पर–आनन्द–रस–अनुभूतिम्para–ānanda–rasa–anubhūtim
the experience of the nectar of Supreme Bliss
रमेतrameta
would take delight in
शून्येषुśūnyeṣu
empty things
चन्द्रेcandre
when the moon
महा–आह्लादिनिmahā–āhlādini
giving great delight
दीप्यमानेdīpyamāne
while he is shining
कः इच्छेत्kaḥ icchet
who would desire
आलोकयितुंālokayituṃ
to watch
चित्र–इन्दुम्citra–indum
the moon in a painting?

Translation

There is no pleasure or satisfaction or cessation of sorrow in the experience of unreal things. Always stay satiated in that experience of non–dual bliss and in the awareness of the Self.

Annotation

Vedanta talks of viṣayānanda, the happiness from sense objects which is limited, in contrast to brahmānanda, the bliss of Brahman which is unlimited. Happiness from sense objects increases desire and seeks more sense objects. The bliss of Brahman is infinite in nature and hence there is no further desire.
