Shloka

नमस्तस्मै सदेकस्मै नमश्चिन्महसे मुहुः ।यदेतद्विश्वरूपेण राजते गुरुराज ते ॥ ५२० ॥

namastasmai sadekasmai namaścinmahase muhuḥ ;yadetadviśvarūpeṇa rājate gururāja te . 520 .

Anvaya

भ्रमन्तंbhramantaṃ
Drifting in
महा–स्वप्नेmahā–svapne
in the great dream
माया–कृतmāyā–kṛta
caused by māyā
जनि–जरा–मृत्यु–गहनेjani–jarā–mṛtyu–gahane
in the intense (dream) of birth, old age and death
क्लिश्यन्तंkliśyantaṃ
suffering from
बहुलतर–तापैःbahulatara–tāpaiḥ
numerous afflictions
अनुकलम्anukalam
every moment
अहङ्कार–व्याघ्र–व्यथितम्ahaṅkāra–vyāghra–vyathitam
tormented by the tiger called ego
इमम्imam
this me
अत्यन्त–कृपयाatyanta–kṛpayā
with enormous grace
प्रबोध्यprabodhya
having woke me up
प्रस्वापात्prasvāpāt
from the great stupor
मां परम् अवितवान् असिmāṃ param avitavān asi
you saved me greatly
गुरोguro
oh preceptor!

Translation

Oh king of guru–s! You are that homogenous consciousness which is shining in the form of this universe. I offer my salutations again and again to such glorious Self of yours.

Annotation

The guru is equated with Brahman in this verse.
