Shloka

वेदान्तार्थविचारेण जायते ज्ञानमुत्तमम् ।तेनात्यन्तिकसंसारदुःखनाशो भवत्यलम् ॥ ४७ ॥

vedāntārthavicāreṇa jāyate jñānamuttamam ;tenātyantikasaṃsāraduḥkhanāśo bhavatyalam . 47 .

Anvaya

वेदान्त–अर्थ–विचारेणvedānta–artha–vicāreṇa
By contemplating on the statements of the Upanishads
जायतेjāyate
arises
ज्ञानम् उत्तमम्jñānam uttamam
the highest knowledge
तेनtena
by that
आत्यन्तिक–संसार–दुःख–नाशःātyantika–saṃsāra–duḥkha–nāśaḥ
complete cessation of the sorrow of existence
भवति–अनुbhavati–anu
happens soon

Translation

The highest knowledge arises by contemplation on the meaning of Upanishads. By that, a complete cessation of sorrow of existence will happen soon.

Annotation

‘The highest knowledge’ – refers to the knowledge of Supreme Brahman, the eternal, pure, which is of the nature of intelligence and unattached. ‘Contemplation’ – refers to a mental activity in consonance with the effort to realise such Brahman (Jagadguru).
