prācīnavāsanāvegādasau saṃsaratīti cet ;na sadekatvavijñānānmandībhavati vāsanā . 444 .
Anvaya
विज्ञात–ब्रह्म–तत्त्वस्यvijñāta–brahma–tattvasya
For the one who has realised Brahman
न संसृतिःna saṃsṛtiḥ
there is no transmigration
यथा–पूर्वंyathā–pūrvaṃ
as before
अस्ति चेत्asti cet
If it exists
न सःna saḥ
he is not
विज्ञात–ब्रह्मभावःvijñāta–brahmabhāvaḥ
a person who has realised Brahman
बहिर्–मुखःbahir–mukhaḥ
(but) an externally oriented person
Translation
If it is said that the person transmigrates on the strength of earlier vāsanā–s, it cannot happen so. All predispositions wither away due to the knowledge of oneness of existence.
Annotation
1) The expression ‘on the strength of earlier predispositions’ refers to the predispositions acquired in the innumerable past births. 2) ‘Oneness of existence’ refers to realisation of oneness with the non–dual, impartite (part–less) and self–luminous Brahman. On such realisation all predispositions disappear like darkness at dawn (Jagadguru).
