Shloka

समूलकृत्तोऽपि महानहं पुन -
र्व्युल्लेखितः स्याद्यदि चेतसा क्षणम् ।
सञ्जीव्य विक्षेपशतं करोति
नभस्वता प्रावृषि वारिदो यथा ॥ ३१० ॥

samūlakṛtto’pi mahānahaṃ puna -
rvyullekhitaḥ syādyadi cetasā kṣaṇam ;
sañjīvya vikṣepaśataṃ karoti
nabhasvatā prāvṛṣi vārido yathā . 310 .

Anvaya

समूल–कृत्तः अपिsamūla–kṛttaḥ api
Even though totally uprooted
महान् अहंmahān ahaṃ
the mighty ego
पुनःpunaḥ
again
यदि उल्लेखितः स्याद्yadi ullekhitaḥ syād
if it is merely scratched (even with a little thought about it)
चेतसाcetasā
by the mind
क्षणम्kṣaṇam
even for a moment
संजीव्यsaṃjīvya
having regained life
करोतिkaroti
does
विक्षेप–शतंvikṣepa–śataṃ
hundreds of (numerous) false projections
यथाyathā
just as
प्रावृषि वारिदःprāvṛṣi vāridaḥ
the cloud in the rainy season
नभस्वताnabhasvatā
by wind

Translation

Even though totally uprooted, this mighty ego gets revived even if it is merely scratched (even with a little thought about it) by the mind for a moment. Having regained life, it causes hundreds of false projections (love, hate, desire, greed etc), just as the cloud in the rainy season (gets revived) by the wind.
