Shloka

तस्मादहङ्कारमिमं स्वशत्रुं
भोक्तुर्गले कण्टकवत्प्रतीतम् ।
विच्छिद्य विज्ञानमहासिना स्फुटं
भुङ्क्ष्वात्मसाम्राज्यसुखं यथेष्टम् ॥ ३०८ ॥

tasmādahaṅkāramimaṃ svaśatruṃ
bhokturgale kaṇṭakavatpratītam ;
vicchidya vijñānamahāsinā sphuṭaṃ
bhuṅkṣvātmasāmrājyasukhaṃ yatheṣṭam . 308 .

स्व–शत्रुंsva–śatruṃ

भोक्तुः गलेbhoktuḥ gale
in the throat of an eating person
विज्ञान–महा–असिनाvijñāna–mahā–asinā
with the great sword of realisation
स्फुटंsphuṭaṃ

भुङ्क्ष्वाbhuṅkṣvā
enjoy
आत्म–साम्राज्य–सुखंātma–sāmrājya–sukhaṃ
the bliss of the empire of Atman
यथा–इष्टम्yathā–iṣṭam
as you like

Translation

Hence having destroyed this ego – the enemy of the self, acting as a thorn in the throat of an eating person – with the great sword of realisation, enjoy the bliss of the empire of the Atman as you like, very clearly.

Annotation

1) The word ‘hence’ connects to the earlier verse which says that ego is the main cause for transmigration of the jīva, who in reality is the supreme Self, devoid of transmigration. 2) The sword of realisation – refers to the knowledge arising out of the discrimination (analysis) of the five sheaths (Jagadguru).
