Shloka

यावत्स्यात्स्वस्य सम्बन्धोऽहङ्कारेण दुरात्मना ।तावन्न लेशमात्रापि मुक्तिवार्ता विलक्षणा ॥ ३०० ॥

yāvatsyātsvasya sambandho’haṅkāreṇa durātmanā ;tāvanna leśamātrāpi muktivārtā vilakṣaṇā . 300 .

स्वस्यsvasya

दुरात्मनाdurātmanā
with the evil one
अहङ्कारेण सम्बन्धःahaṅkāreṇa sambandhaḥ
with the existence of ego sense
यावत् स्यात्yāvat syāt
as long as it exists
तावत्tāvat
till then
न लेश–मात्रा–अपिna leśa–mātrā–api
not in the least measure
मुक्ति–वार्ताmukti–vārtā
the word (hope) of liberation
विलक्षणाvilakṣaṇā
which is quite distinct (from the ego sense)

Translation

As long as one (the seeker) has relation with the villainous ego sense, till then there is not even the word (hope) of liberation, which is quite distinct (from the ego sense).

Annotation

Ego sense is called the evil one because it is the root cause for all bondage. The word ‘distinct’ means that liberation is of the nature of unsurpassed bliss (Jagadguru).
