Shloka

मन्दमध्यमरूपापि वैराग्येण शमादिना ।प्रसादेन गुरोः सेयं प्रवृद्धा सूयते फलम् ॥ २९ ॥

mandamadhyamarūpāpi vairāgyeṇa śamādinā ;prasādena guroḥ seyaṃ pravṛddhā sūyate phalam . 29 .

Anvaya

मन्द–मध्यम–रूपा–अपिmanda–madhyama–rūpā–api
Though mild and moderate
वैराग्येणvairāgyeṇa
by dispassion
शम–आदिनाśama–ādinā
by self–restraint etc
गुरोः प्रसादेनguroḥ prasādena
by the grace of the teacher
सा इयंsā iyaṃ
this (desire for liberation)
प्रवृद्धाpravṛddhā
having grown in strength
सूयते फलम्sūyate phalam
yields fruit

Translation

This desire, though mild and moderate in the beginning, would grow strong by dispassion, self–restraint etc., and by the grace of the teacher and would yield fruit.

Annotation

By the expression ‘self–restraint etc’., the six means mentioned in the slokas 22 to 26 are to be taken.
