Translation

In the proximity of all sense organs, this ego sheath is the place of manifestation of the self–luminous Atman. In spite of being the Unchanging (kūṭa–sthaḥ), the Atman becomes (appears as) the doer and enjoyer because of identification with the limiting adjunct.

Annotation

The word ‘prāṇeṣu’, is in the locative case but it has to be interpreted to imply proximity with the prāṇa–s (sense organs). The intellect sheath is the closest to the self–luminous Brahman in the sense that consciousness reflects in that without any filter (Jagadguru).
