Shloka

असङ्गचिद्रूपममुं विमोह्य
देहेन्द्रियप्राणगुणैर्निबध्य ।
अहं ममेति भ्रमयत्यजस्रं
मनः स्वकृत्येषु फलोपभुक्तिषु ॥ १८० ॥

asaṅgacidrūpamamuṃ vimohya
dehendriyaprāṇaguṇairnibadhya ;
ahaṃ mameti bhramayatyajasraṃ
manaḥ svakṛtyeṣu phalopabhuktiṣu . 180 .

विमोह्यvimohya
Having deluded
अमुंamuṃ

असङ्ग–चिद्रूपम्asaṅga–cidrūpam
(Atman) which is unattached and of the nature of consciousness
देह–इन्द्रिय–प्राण–गुणैःdeha–indriya–prāṇa–guṇaiḥ
by the properties of the body, senses and vital airs
निबध्यnibadhya
having bound it
भ्रमयतिbhramayati
makes it wander
अहं मम इतिahaṃ mama iti
with the notion of ‘I’ and ‘mine’
अजस्रंajasraṃ
incessantly
मनःmanaḥ
the mind
स्व–कृत्येषुsva–kṛtyeṣu
in their activities
फल–उपभुक्तिषुphala–upabhuktiṣu
in enjoying the fruits (of such actions)

Translation

Having deluded – by the properties of the body, senses and vital airs – this Atman, which is unattached and of the nature of consciousness and having bound it, the mind incessantly makes it (the Atman) wander with the notion of ‘I’ and ‘mine’ in its actions and enjoyment of fruits.

Annotation

‘Having deluded’ – means ‘rendering the person incapable to know his real nature’. ‘In its actions’ means the scripturally enjoined actions such as rituals. Wandering refers to the upward and downward movement to different worlds (Jagadguru).
