Shloka

तस्मान्मनः कारणमस्य जन्तो -
र्बन्धस्य मोक्षस्य च वा विधाने ।
बन्धस्य हेतुर्मलिनं रजोगुणै -
र्मोक्षस्य शुद्धं विरजस्तमस्कम् ॥ १७६ ॥

tasmānmanaḥ kāraṇamasya janto -
rbandhasya mokṣasya ca vā vidhāne ;
bandhasya heturmalinaṃ rajoguṇai -
rmokṣasya śuddhaṃ virajastamaskam . 176 .

Translation

Hence the mind is the cause for creation of bondage or liberation of the person. The mind, impure with the qualities of rajas, is the cause for bondage and the mind devoid of rajas and tamas is the cause for liberation.
