Shloka

मुञ्जादिषीकामिव दृश्यवर्गा -
त्प्रत्यञ्चमात्मानमसङ्गमक्रियम् ।
विविच्य तत्र प्रविलाप्य सर्वं
तदात्मना तिष्ठति यः स मुक्तः ॥ १५५ ॥

muñjādiṣīkāmiva dṛśyavargā -
tpratyañcamātmānamasaṅgamakriyam ;
vivicya tatra pravilāpya sarvaṃ
tadātmanā tiṣṭhati yaḥ sa muktaḥ . 155 .

Translation

He is the liberated one who having discriminated and known the indwelling Atman, which is unattached and actionless, from the external objects – like taking out the core from the grass – and having resolved all the external universe in It, stays in that awareness of Self.

Annotation

1) ‘Taking out the core from the grass stalk’ – is the reference from the Kathopanishad (2–3–17). The seeker, by proper discrimination negates the five layers and realises the indwelling Atman. 2) ‘Unattached’ – because it is infinite and devoid of any limitations. 3) ‘Having resolved all knowable objects’ – this is the process of resolving the effects (kārya) into the cause kāraṇa and realising one’s self to be the substratum, the inner–most Self (Jagadguru).
