Translation

This bondage cannot be cut by missiles charged with mantra–s, or by weapons or by air or fire or by millions of rituals. It can only be cut by the very sharp and mighty sword of discrimination and realisation by the benign grace of god.

Annotation

astra – is a missile hurled by chanting a mantra and śastra – is a weapon held in the hand by the fighter. Air and fire referred to above are the astra–s we find in our mythological tales.
