Translation

Atman is the knower of the modifications of the mind and the ego and of the activities done by the body, senses and vital airs. It indwells (pervades) all (such modifications and activities) like fire pervades the iron ball. It does not act nor cause any change.

Annotation

1) ‘The knower’ – Atman is the illuminor of all modifications of mind such as desire, volition etc., 2) The fire by itself does not have any form but it pervades the iron throughout and appears as associated with its functions. 3) ‘Does not cause change’ – It has no active role on its part but acts like Sun which illumines all by its mere presence (Jagadguru).
