Shloka

यस्य संनिधिमात्रेण देहेन्द्रियमनोधियः ।विषयेषु स्वकीयेषु वर्तन्ते प्रेरिता इव ॥ १३१ ॥

yasya saṃnidhimātreṇa dehendriyamanodhiyaḥ ;viṣayeṣu svakīyeṣu vartante preritā iva . 131 .

सन्निधि–मात्रेणsannidhi–mātreṇa
mere presence
देह–इन्द्रिय–मनो–धियःdeha–indriya–mano–dhiyaḥ
the body, the senses, the mind and the intellect
वर्तन्तेvartante

विषयेषु स्वकीयेषुviṣayeṣu svakīyeṣu
in their respective sense objects
प्रेरिताः इवpreritāḥ iva
as though inspired

Translation

By its (Atman’s) mere presence the body, the senses, the mind and the intellect go about in their respective sense objects as though inspired.

Annotation

1) The opening mantra–s of the Kenopanishad have to be noted here. 2) ‘By mere presence’ – means the relationship in the form of identification with the mind and the intellect (Jagadguru).
