Shloka

येन विश्वमिदं व्याप्तं यं न व्याप्नोति किञ्चन ।अभारूपमिदं सर्वं यं भान्तमनुभात्ययम् ॥ १३० ॥

yena viśvamidaṃ vyāptaṃ yaṃ na vyāpnoti kiñcana ;abhārūpamidaṃ sarvaṃ yaṃ bhāntamanubhātyayam . 130 .

Translation

Atman is that by which the universe is pervaded but whom nothing can pervade. All else is merely non–luminous (insentient) which shines only after it (the Atman).

Annotation

1) ‘Pervaded’ – means that Atman is the material cause for the universe and hence it pervades. The Gita too says विष्टभ्याहमिदं कृत्स्नम् एकांशेन स्थितो जगत् (Gita 10–42). 2) ‘Non–luminous’ – तमेव भान्तमनुभाति सर्वम्, everything shines after it (Kat.U.2–5–15). 3) This verse tells that the Atman is of the nature of infinitude (Jagadguru).
