Shloka

यः पश्यति स्वयं सर्वं यं न पश्यति किञ्चन ।यश्चेतयति बुद्ध्यादि न तद्यं चेतयत्ययम् ॥ १२९ ॥

yaḥ paśyati svayaṃ sarvaṃ yaṃ na paśyati kiñcana ;yaścetayati buddhyādi na tadyaṃ cetayatyayam . 129 .

Anvaya

यः पश्यतिyaḥ paśyati
That which knows
स्वयंsvayaṃ
by itself
सर्वंsarvaṃ
all
यंyaṃ
whom
न पश्यति किञ्चनna paśyati kiñcana
anything else cannot know
यः चेतयतिyaḥ cetayati
which activates
बुद्धि–आदिbuddhi–ādi
the intellect etc
न तद् चेतयतिna tad cetayati
it does not activate
अयम्ayam
(that is) the Atman

Translation

By itself it sees (knows) all, nothing else can know this. It activates the intellect etc, but that (intellect etc) does not activate the Atman.

Annotation

The scriptures emphatically say that there is no other seer apart from the Atman. The sense organs or the mind cannot know the Atman. The Atman, by its reflection on the intellect, makes the intellect appear as sentient (Jagadguru).
