बुद्धीन्द्रियाणि श्रवणं त्वगक्षि
घ्राणं च जिह्वा विषयावबोधनात् ।
वाक्पाणिपादा गुदमप्युपस्थं
कर्मेन्द्रियाणि प्रवणानि कर्मसु ॥ ९४ ॥

buddhīndriyāṇi śravaṇaṃ tvagakṣi
ghrāṇaṃ ca jihvā viṣayāvabodhanāt ;
vākpāṇipādā gudamapyupasthaṃ
karmendriyāṇi pravaṇāni karmasu . 94 .

Translation

The ear, skin, eye, nose and tongue are the sense organs for the reason that they perceive (external) objects. The five organs of action – speech, hands, feet, the rectum and the genital organ – have proclivity for action.

Annotation

The terms ear, skin, eye etc., refer to the sense of hearing, sense of touch etc., and not to the physical, external organs (Jagadguru).
