Shloka

विषयाशामहापाशाद्यो विमुक्तः सुदुस्त्यजात् ।स एव कल्पते मुक्त्यै नान्यः षट्‍छास्त्रवेद्यपि ॥ ८० ॥

viṣayāśāmahāpāśādyo vimuktaḥ sudustyajāt ;sa eva kalpate muktyai nānyaḥ ṣaṭ‍chāstravedyapi . 80 .

विषय–आशा–महा–पाशाद्viṣaya–āśā–mahā–pāśād
from the mighty chord of desire for sense objects
सुदुस्त्यजात्sudustyajāt
very difficult to get rid of

कल्पतेkalpate
becomes fit
मुक्त्यैmuktyai
for liberation
न अन्यःna anyaḥ
not another
षट्–शास्त्र–वेदी–अपिṣaṭ–śāstra–vedī–api
even if he is the knower of six śāstra–s

Translation

Only he who frees himself from the mighty cord of desire for sense object, which is difficult to get rid of, becomes fit for liberation and not another, even an expert in six śāstra–s.

Annotation

Grammar, Vedanta, Mimamsa, logic, poetics and dharma śāstra–s are traditionally considered as six śāstra–s.
