Shloka

यद्बोद्धव्यं तवेदानीमात्मानात्मविवेचनम् ।तदुच्यते मया सम्यक्छ्रुत्वात्मन्यवधारय ॥ ७३ ॥

yadboddhavyaṃ tavedānīmātmānātmavivecanam ;taducyate mayā samyakchrutvātmanyavadhāraya . 73 .

यद् बोद्धव्यंyad boddhavyaṃ
What has to be known
तवtava
for (by) you
इदानीम्idānīm
now
आत्मानात्म–विवेचनम्ātmānātma–vivecanam
the discrimination of the Self and non–self
तद् उच्यतेtad ucyate
that is being told
मयाmayā
by me
सम्यक्samyak

श्रुत्वाśrutvā
having heard
आत्मनि अवधारयātmani avadhāraya
firmly ascertain in your mind

Translation

I shall now tell you the discrimination between the the Self and the non–self which has to be known by you. Having heard it well, have a firm understanding in your mind.
