Translation

The total dissolution of the knot of ignorance in the intellect happens only when the seeker attains the vision of non–dual Atman by samādhi devoid of mental modes.

Annotation

1) avikalpa – refers to a state devoid of all mental modes. It is the same as nirvikalpa samādhi, the undifferentiated state of mind described above. 2) The knot of ignorance – is the ignorance which identifies the self with the non–self, the sentient (cit) with the insentient (jada) (Jagadguru). Cutting the knot is to realise that the Self is always free and that it is merely imagining itself to be bound and limited.
