Shloka

अहम्बुद्ध्यैव मोहिन्या योजयित्वावृतेर्बलात् ।विक्षेपशक्तिः पुरुषं विक्षेपयति तद्गुणैः ॥ ३४४ ॥

ahambuddhyaiva mohinyā yojayitvāvṛterbalāt ;vikṣepaśaktiḥ puruṣaṃ vikṣepayati tadguṇaiḥ . 344 .

Anvaya

योजयित्वाyojayitvā
By uniting
अहं–बुद्ध्या एवahaṃ–buddhyā eva
with the ego sense only
मोहिन्याmohinyā
which is deluding in nature
आवृतेः बलात्āvṛteḥ balāt
by the strength of the enveloping power
विक्षेप–शक्तिःvikṣepa–śaktiḥ
the power of projection of unreal
विक्षेपयतिvikṣepayati
flings away
पुरुषंpuruṣaṃ
the person
तद्–गुणैःtad–guṇaiḥ
with its qualities

Translation

By uniting with the ego sense only – which is deluding in nature – the projecting power (of māyā), with the strength of the enveloping power, flings the person away (from reality) by its qualities.

Annotation

The pursuit of external objects (which are non–atman) leads to envelopment of reality. The ego sense is highly deluding in nature. The projection power of māyā, with its qualities such as desire for objects (saṅkalpa) throws a person away from reality (Jagadguru).
