भ्रान्तिकल्पितजगत्कलाश्रयं
स्वाश्रयं च सदसद्विलक्षणम् ।
निष्कलं निरुपमानमृद्धिम -
द्ब्रह्म तत्त्वमसि भावयात्मनि ॥ २५८ ॥

bhrāntikalpitajagatkalāśrayaṃ
svāśrayaṃ ca sadasadvilakṣaṇam ;
niṣkalaṃ nirupamānamṛddhima -
dbrahma tattvamasi bhāvayātmani . 258 .

Anvaya

भ्रान्ति–कल्पित–जगत्–कला–आश्रयंbhrānti–kalpita–jagat–kalā–āśrayaṃ
It (Brahman) is the substratum for the world which is visualised due to nescience as a fraction (in Brahman)
स्वाश्रयं चsvāśrayaṃ ca
and self–supporting
सद्–असद्–विलक्षणम्sad–asad–vilakṣaṇam
distinct from the sat and asat
निष्कलंniṣkalaṃ
part–less
निर्–उपमानम्nir–upamānam

तत् त्वम् असिtat tvam asi
That you are
भावय आत्मनिbhāvaya ātmani
meditate thus in your mind

Translation

Brahman is the substratum for the world which is visualised due to nescience as a fraction (in Brahman). It is self–supporting, distinct from the gross and the subtle, unparalleled and bountiful. You are That Brahman, meditate thus in your mind.

Annotation

1) jagat–kalā–āśrayaṃ – The Vedic line “all the beings are merely a quarter in that” shows that the universe is a fraction of Brahman. This visualisation is also due to nescience, as the text says. 2) Gross and subtle, in this context, refer to the five elements. The earth, water and fire are the gross and air and space are known as the subtle.
