Translation

The contradiction between them is not something real but it is created by the limiting adjuncts. Listen! The limiting adjunct of Iswara is māyā which is the cause for mahat and others. The limiting adjunct of jīva is the effect, the five sheaths.

Annotation

1) mahad–ādi–kāraṇaṃ – māyā is the cause for mahat (Hiranyagarbha), the cosmic mind and the five tanmātra–s. 2) For the jīva, the effect, constituting the five sheaths, is the limiting adjunct. The scripture says – ‘the cause (of the universe) is the upādhi for Iswara and the effect is the upādhi for jīva’(Jagadguru).
