Shloka

पञ्चानामपि कोशानां निषेधे युक्तितः कृते ।तन्निषेधावधिः साक्षी बोधरूपोऽवशिष्यते ॥ २१२ ॥

pañcānāmapi kośānāṃ niṣedhe yuktitaḥ kṛte ;tanniṣedhāvadhiḥ sākṣī bodharūpo’vaśiṣyate . 212 .

Anvaya

पञ्चानाम् अपि कोशानांpañcānām api kośānāṃ
Of all five sheaths
निषेधेniṣedhe
when negated
युक्तितःyuktitaḥ
logically
श्रुतेःśruteḥ
and by the authority of the scripture
तत् निषेध–अवधिःtat niṣedha–avadhiḥ
the frontier of such negation
साक्षीsākṣī
is the witness (self)
बोध–रूपःbodha–rūpaḥ
of the nature of consciousness
अवशिष्यतेavaśiṣyate
remains

Translation

When all these five sheaths are negated logically and by the authority of scripture, what remains as the frontier of such negation is the witness self, which is of the nature of consciousness.

Annotation

1) ‘The frontier’ – refers to the substratum, the point up to which everything else is negated. 2) ‘Of the nature of consciousness’ – refers to object–less consciousness where there is no duality of knower and known (Jagadguru).
