Translation

This sheath of bliss manifests actively during the deep sleep. A little of it, caused by the sight (attainment and enjoyment) of a desired object, is seen during the dream and waking states.

Annotation

1) ‘utkaṭā – active’ – because during deep sleep, the happiness is unmixed with sorrow. 2) ‘Caused by the sight etc., of a desired object’ – attainment and enjoyment should also be understood. 3) ‘A little’ – implies that the happiness being enjoyed as the fruit of good deeds is disturbed by several other mental modifications during the waking and dream states. In deep sleep there is no such disturbance (Jagadguru).
