Shloka

भ्रान्तिं विना त्वसङ्गस्य निष्क्रियस्य निराकृतेः ।न घटेतार्थसम्बन्धो नभसो नीलतादिवत् ॥ १९७ ॥

bhrāntiṃ vinā tvasaṅgasya niṣkriyasya nirākṛteḥ ;na ghaṭetārthasambandho nabhaso nīlatādivat . 197 .

Anvaya

असङ्गस्यasaṅgasya
For the unattached
निष्क्रियस्यniṣkriyasya
having no action in it
निराकृतेःnirākṛteḥ
having no form
भ्रान्तिं विना तुbhrāntiṃ vinā tu
except due to delusion
न घटेतna ghaṭeta
will not happen
अर्थ–सम्बन्धःartha–sambandhaḥ
contact with sense objects
नभसःnabhasaḥ
for the sky
नीलतादि–वत्nīlatādi–vat
characteristics such as being blue etc

Translation

For the Brahman which is unattached, which has no action or form, there cannot be contact with sense objects except due to delusion, just as attributions such as being blue in the case of the sky.

Annotation

‘Unattached’ – It is only a limited object which can be attached to another limited object. Brahman, which is infinity, cannot have contact with anything. Similarly, action is also possible for a limited entity but not for the infinite. For the same reason there is no form for the infinite.
