Shloka

बुद्धिर्बुद्धीन्द्रियैः सार्धं सवृत्तिः कर्तृलक्षणः ।विज्ञानमयकोशः स्यात्पुंसः संसारकारणम् ॥ १८६ ॥

buddhirbuddhīndriyaiḥ sārdhaṃ savṛttiḥ kartṛlakṣaṇaḥ ;vijñānamayakośaḥ syātpuṃsaḥ saṃsārakāraṇam . 186 .

Anvaya

बुद्धिःbuddhiḥ
The determining intellect
सवृत्तिःsavṛttiḥ
along with the though modes (vṛtti–s)
बुद्धि–इन्द्रियैः सार्धंbuddhi–indriyaiḥ sārdhaṃ
along with the five sense organs
कर्तृ–लक्षणःkartṛ–lakṣaṇaḥ
which has the notion of being the doer
विज्ञान–मय–कोशः स्यात्vijñāna–maya–kośaḥ syāt
is the ego sheath
पुंसःpuṃsaḥ
for the jīva
संसार–कारणम्saṃsāra–kāraṇam
the cause for transmigration

Translation

Along with the five sense organs, the determining intellect, with its notion of doership, is the ego sheath and it is the cause for transmigration of the jīva.

Annotation

The ego sheath is associated with the buddhi, determinate knowledge and with the notion of being the doer. This is the cause for the transmigration of a person (Jagadguru). The buddhi is called the determining intellect, when distinguished from manas.
