Shloka

मोक्षैकसक्त्या विषयेषु रागं
निर्मूल्य संन्यस्य च सर्वकर्म ।
सच्छ्रद्धया यः श्रवणादिनिष्ठो
रजः स्वभावं स धुनोति बुद्धेः ॥ १८४ ॥

mokṣaikasaktyā viṣayeṣu rāgaṃ
nirmūlya saṃnyasya ca sarvakarma ;
sacchraddhayā yaḥ śravaṇādiniṣṭho
rajaḥ svabhāvaṃ sa dhunoti buddheḥ . 184 .

मोक्षैक–सक्त्याmokṣaika–saktyā
With single–minded devotion for liberation

Translation

The person who, with single minded devotion for liberation, having uprooted attachment in sense objects and also having renounced on all action with earnest devotion on the sat and is established in śravaṇam etc., he can get rid of the nature of rajas in the mind.

Annotation

‘śravaṇam etc’., refers to the first stage in the three–tier process in the path of liberation. The three steps are – knowing the teaching of Upanishads, contemplating on them and internalisation of such teaching. The word ‘sat’ refers to Brahman which is non–negatable in past, present and future, as mentioned in the scripture – ‘Brahman is satyam–jñānam–anantam’ (Tai Up 2–1). ‘The nature of rajas’ is the power of projection, described above (Jagadguru). It is being concluded that the mind sheath is not Atman
