सम्यग्विचारतः सिद्धा रज्जुतत्त्वावधारणा ।भ्रान्त्योदितमहासर्पभवदुःखविनाशनी ॥ १२ ॥

Translation

Ascertainment of the real nature of rope (that it is not the snake) is only by proper enquiry. Such enquiry is the destroyer of the great fear caused by the delusion of the great serpent.

Annotation

The serpent–rope metaphor is familiar in Vedanta, which illustrates that Brahman alone is real and that the universe is an appearance in Brahman just as the snake is an appearance on the rope. The word bhava–duḥkha refers to the fear of the cycle of birth and death.
