चित्तस्य शुद्धये कर्म न तु वस्तूपलब्धये ।वस्तुसिद्धिर्विचारेण न किञ्चित्कर्मकोटिभिः ॥ ११ ॥

cittasya śuddhaye karma na tu vastūpalabdhaye ;vastusiddhirvicāreṇa na kiñcitkarmakoṭibhiḥ . 11 .

वस्तु–उपलब्धयेvastu–upalabdhaye
for attaining the objective (Brahman)
वस्तु–सिद्धिःvastu–siddhiḥ

विचारेणvicāreṇa
is by enquiry
न किञ्चित्na kiñcit
not even a trifle
कर्म–कोटिभिःkarma–koṭibhiḥ
by millions of rituals

Translation

Karma is merely for purification of mind and not for attainment of the object (Brahman)Attainment of Brahman is only by discrimination not a trifle is achieved by millions of rituals

Annotation

The desire–free karma, told in the Gita is the primary step for the Self–realisation. It leads to purity of mind. Mere purity cannot achieve the objective without discrimination and enquiry.
