Shloka

पुण्यानि पापानि निरिन्द्रियस्य
निश्चेतसो निर्विकृतेर्निराकृतेः ।
कुतो ममाखण्डसुखानुभूते -
र्ब्रूते ह्यनन्वागतमित्यपि श्रुतिः ॥ ५०४ ॥

puṇyāni pāpāni nirindriyasya
niścetaso nirvikṛternirākṛteḥ ;
kuto mamākhaṇḍasukhānubhūte -
rbrūte hyananvāgatamityapi śrutiḥ . 504 .

Anvaya

मेme
For me
सदा एक–रूपस्यsadā eka–rūpasya
who am always change–less
निर्–अंशकस्यnir–aṃśakasya
part–less
न प्रवृत्तिःna pravṛttiḥ
no engagement in action
च मेca me
and also for me
न निवृत्तिःna nivṛttiḥ
no withdrawal

That which is
एकात्मकःekātmakaḥ
one in nature
निबिडःnibiḍaḥ
dense
निरन्तरःnirantaraḥ
devoid of difference
पूर्णःpūrṇaḥ
complete
व्योम–इवvyoma–iva
like space
सःsaḥ
that
कथं नुkathaṃ nu
how can
चेष्टतेceṣṭate
engage in action?

Translation

Where is the question of good and evil for me, who am not the senses, not the mind but am change–less, form–less and of the nature of incessant bliss? The scripture too asserts – “unaccompanied by (good and evil)”.

Annotation

Engagement in action and withdrawal from action are also superimposed attributes in the change–less Atman. No activity can be conceived for something which is part–less (Jagadguru).
