समस्तेषु वस्तुष्वनुस्यूतमेकं
समस्तानि वस्तूनि यं न स्पृशन्ति ।
वियद्वत्सदा शुद्धमच्छस्वरूपं
स नित्योपलब्धिस्वरूपोऽहमात्मा ॥११॥
samasteṣu vastuṣvanusyūtamekaṃ
samastāni vastūni yaṃ na spṛśanti ;
viyadvatsadā śuddhamacchasvarūpaṃ
sa nityopalabdhisvarūpo’hamātmā .11.
हस्तामलकीयभाष्यम्
किं च —
समस्तेषु निरवशेषेषु प्रपञ्चात्मकेषु सदात्मना अनुस्यूतम् अनुगतं व्याप्तम् एवं हि नाना समस्तानि वस्तूनि प्रपञ्चात्मकानि यं सद्रूपं न स्पृशन्ति । कुतः ? वियद्वत् आकाशमिव सदा सर्वदा शुद्धं निर्मलं रागादिदोषरहितम् अच्छस्वरूपम् अमृतरूपं यत् परं ब्रह्म सोऽहमात्मेति सम्बन्धः ॥
English Translation of Hastamalakiyam
The one Self which pervades everything in this universe, but which nothing can taint, which is always pure like space, which is free from the impurity in the form of attachment and aversion, which is immortal, that Self of the nature of eternal consciousness, I am.

Space pervades all objects, but is never tainted by the impurities in those objects. So also the Self is never tainted by the defects such as attachment, aversion, anger, greed, etc., in the minds of living beings which the Self pervades. It is always absolutely pure, changeless and immortal.
